NEKTAR PANORAMA P4 mapping Omnisphere 1 impossible to custom

hi, I use Cubase 7 and do electronic music, usually prefer to experiment in the genre psytrance. I recently purchased the NEKTAR PANORAMA P4 knowing that comes with an excellent mapping CUBASE7, in fact, now I could appreciate the mapping that provides NEKTAR from his site, I must say that the control surface P4 is very intuitive and allows you to reach all the controls CUBASE7 to be piloted. even the native VST CUBASE7 are compatible and P4 fastens perfectly and handles them well. then sections MIXER, TRANSPORT and obviously INTERNAL of PANORAMA P4 did not create difficulties or problems.

going to the INSTRUMENT I encountered difficulties, when I try to configure P4 with external vst such as OMNISPHERE1, I can not get a good custom mapping, then, in my opinion, functions LEARN between P4 and OMNISPHERE1 are not very good, because I do not take the steps to make simple recording controls OMNISPHERE1, then I will have to drive through P4.

I mainly use their OMNISPHERE1, and then I would like to understand how best to proceed is to create a fast mapping and adequately customized with PANORAMA P4 and OMNISPHERE1.

now I list the problems I faced, obviously everything to do with setting the MIDI IN-OUT CUBASE7 or internal settings of P4 are configured exactly as in NEKTAR manual that comes with the installation package mapping CUBASE7, and updates , firmware, drivers, software and CUBASE7 including VST and DAW complete, is all right, I have already taken steps to control everything, everything is updated.

we pass to the problems:

  1. I proceed in this way, I open an instance of OMNISPHERE1 panel VST INSTRUMENT in CUBASE7,

  2. active outputs OMNISPHERE1 that has a maximum of 8 channels, they separate outputs into the mixer of OMNIAPHERE, and check to each his channel audio,

  3. insert 8-track MIDI CUBASE7 and I match the respective audio tracks OMNISPHERE1,

  4. they select the track MIDI1 referring to LAYER1 of OMNISPHERE and I go to the INSTRUMENT of P4.

panel TFT P4 appears OMNISPHERE1 and you may notice that P4 has already mapped the basic, really do not like it at all, the basic configuration and three P4 OMNISPHERE1 is horrible,

  1. then begin to erase entire mapping P4, ovver use this procedure: I select the PAGE P4 (Home, page A, page B, page C Fader Home) I press the LEARN, LEARN within the editor, and I select the option CLEAR ALL, I go out and save the cancellation of the mapping.

I repeat this step for each page from P4.

  1. Now that I’ve deleted everything I proceed to customization,
    They select the MIDI track in 1 CUBASE7,
    I go to the FADER page HOME P4,
    active the LEARN function,
    move the parameter 1LIVEL of OMNISPHERE1,
    I move the FADER 1 of P4 (the first to the left) and the anchor happened perfectly.

  2. Now I would like to anchor the ATTACK parameter of the LAYER1 OMNISPHERE to FADER2 P4, then proceed as follows:

since the ATTACK parameter is not set for a learning MIDI CC LEARN, active function, but moving the FADER2, nothing happens to this problem have already contacted NEKTAR and I was advised to activate the ENABLE HOST AUTOMATION, instead of classical, MIDI CC LEARN.

  1. ok active AUTOMATION ENABLE HOST parameter ATTACK, but suddenly P4 changes its mapping and reconfigure as it was set at the start, that is, we note that the panel TFT screen P4 changes suddenly appears and the HOME page and they are present and visible setteggi that P4 detects by default. what seems to me to be a programming problem, or communication between MIDI signal IN-OUT between the P4, and CUBASE7 OMNISPHERE1.

It could be a BUG?

I believe that the fact that P4 be reconfigured is already a major problem, however, I proceed to map P4 tell you how to proceed:

salve, io uso CUBASE 7 e faccio musica elettronica, di solito preferisco sperimentare nel genere psytrance. ho da poco acquistato la NEKTAR PANORAMA P4 sapendo che viene fornita con un’ottima mappatura per CUBASE7, infatti, da subito ho potuto apprezzare la mappatura che NEKTAR fornisce dal suo sito, devo dire che la superfice di controllo P4 è molto intuitiva e permette di raggiungere tutti i controlli di CUBASE7 per essere pilotato. anche i VST nativi di CUBASE7 sono compatibili e P4 si allaccia perfettamente e li gestisce bene. quindi le sezioni MIXER,TRANSPORT e ovviamente INTERNAL di PANORAMA P4 non mi creano difficoltà o problemi.

passando alla sezione INSTRUMENT ho riscontrato delle difficoltà, quando tento di configurare P4 con vst esterni come ad esempio OMNISPHERE1, non riesco ad ottenere una buona mappatura personalizzata, quindi,secondo me, le funzioni di LEARN tra P4 ed OMNISPHERE1 non sono molto buone, perchè non mi rende semplice compiere i passaggi di registrazione dei controlli di OMNISPHERE1, che poi dovro pilotare tramite P4.

io principalmente uso proprio OMNISPHERE1, e quindi desidererei capire come è meglio procedere per creare una mappatura veloce e adeguatamente personalizzata con PANORAMA P4 e OMNISPHERE1.

ora vi elenco i problemi che ho riscontrato, ovviamente tutto quello che riguarda le impostazione MIDI IN-OUT in CUBASE7 o le impostazioni interne di P4 sono esattamente configurate come nel manuale di NEKTAR che viene fornito con il pacchetto di installazione mappatura di CUBASE7, e aggiornamenti, firmware,drivers dei software e dei vst compreso CUBASE7 e della DAW completa, è tutto apposto, ho gia provveduto a controllare tutto, è tutto aggiornato.

passiamo alle problematiche:

  1. io procedo in questo modo, apro una istanza di OMNISPHERE1 nel pannello VST INSTRUMENT in CUBASE7,

  2. attivo le uscite di OMNISPHERE1 che ha un massimo di 8 canali, separo le uscite nel mixer di OMNIAPHERE, e assegno ad ognuna il suo canale audio,

  3. inserisco 8 tracce MIDI in CUBASE7 e le abbino alle rispettive tracce audio di OMNISPHERE1,

  4. seleziono la traccia MIDI1 che fa riferimento al LAYER1 di OMNISPHERE e vado alla sezione INSTRUMENT di P4.

sul pannello TFT di P4 compare l’OMNISPHERE1 e si puo notare che P4 presenta gia una mappatura di base, sinceramente non mi piace per niente, la configurazione base tre P4 e OMNISPHERE1 è orribile,

  1. quindi incomincio a cancellare tutta la mappatura di P4, ovver utilizzo questa procedura: seleziono la PAGINA di P4, (Home, page A, page B, page C, Fader Home) premo il tasto LEARN, entro nell’editor LEARN, e seleziono l’opzione CLEAR ALL, esco salvando la cancellazione della mappatura.

questo passaggio lo ripeto in ogni pagina di P4.

  1. ora che ho cancellato tutto procedo alla personalizzazione,
    seleziono la traccia MIDI 1 in CUBASE7,
    vado alla pagina FADER HOME di P4,
    attivo la funzione LEARN,
    muovo il parametro 1LIVEL di OMNISPHERE1,
    muovo il FADER 1 di P4 (il primo a lato sinistro) e l’ancoraggio è avvenuto perfettamente.

  2. adesso vorrei ancorare il parametro ATTACK del LAYER1 di OMNISPHERE al FADER2 di P4, quindi procederò cosÏ:

dato che il parametro ATTACK non è impostato per un apprendimento MIDI CC LEARN, attivo la funzione, ma muovendo il FADER2, non succede nulla, per questo problema ho gia contattato NEKTAR e mi hanno consigliato di attivare la funzione ENABLE HOST AUTOMATION, al posto di quella classica, MIDI CC LEARN.

  1. ok attivo ENABLE HOST AUTOMATION sul parametro ATTACK, ma all’improvviso P4 muta la sua mappatura, e si riconfigura per come era impostata in partenza, cioè si nota che sul pannello TFT di P4 cambia schermata all’improvviso e compare la pagina HOME e sono presenti e visibili i setteggi che P4 rileva per default. cio mi sembra che possa essere un problema di programmazione, o di comunicazione tra segnale MIDI IN-OUT fra la P4,CUBASE7 e OMNISPHERE1.

potrebbe essere un BUG?

io credo che il fatto che P4 si riconfiguri sia già un grave problema, comunque procedo a mappare P4 vi dico come procederò:

  1. torno alla pagina FADER HOME di P4 e noto che l’ancoraggio di LIVEL1 con il FADER1 di P4 si è cancellato e non è piu visibile.

  2. ora tento di ripristinare la mia configurazione e ripeto
    il procedimento del punto 6) e che ho descritto qui sopra,

  3. ora che il parametro ATTACK è abilitato in ENABLE HOST AUTOMATION basterà muoverlo per renderlo visibile a P4 e muovendo il FADER2, l’amcoraggio avviene perfettamente,

  4. per sicurezza esco dalla funzione LEARN di P4 salvando i miei settaggi, ora passiamo al parametro DECAY di OMNISPHERE1, appena attivo ENABLE HOST AUTOMATION, anche se P4 non è in fase di apprendimento, P4 si ripristina alla mappatura di defoult e si cancellano nuovamente le mie impostazioni personali. :blush: :blush: :blush:

potreste gentilmente dirmi dove sto sbagliando, e perche mi sta succedendo tutto questo?

devo impostare la porte MIDI IN-OUT di CUBASE7 in un modo diverso?

PANORAMA P4 non è compatibile con le funzioni di OMNISPHERE1?

devo imnpostare qualcosa in modo diverso all’interno di OMNISPHERE1?

sinceramente sono molto confuso, anche avendo letto e riletto le istruzioni di P4 non ho capito cosa sto sbagliando, anche dopo aver segnalato il problema a SPECTRASONICS e NEKTAR, le loro risposte non mi hanno assolutamente aiutato.
sul forum di CUBASE ITALIA non mi hanno ancora risposto, e non so come risolvere queste problematiche.

perfavore aiutatemi a comprendere come mappare PANORAMA P4 con OMNISPHERE1.

Hey Grazie,

Panorama sees automatable parameters through Cubase.

Unfortunately you have to tell Omnisphere to make parameters available for host automation before Panorama’s INSTRUMENT mode can see them. Once parameters are available for host automation, you should be able to map them in Panorama’s learn mode and save your new plugin map. You should also save a ‘MIDI Learn template’ in Omnisphere, otherwise Omnisphere will remove the parameters enabled for host control when you change patches.

MIDI learn is a separate system and if you use Omnisphere’s MIDI learn to map a plugin, stick to Panorama’s INTERNAL mode.
