New AXR4 Thunderbolt Audio Interface announced

My search started out looking for a faster interface, taking advantage of my Thunderbolt 2 inputs on Mac Pro. Switching from a Focusrite Saffire pro FW interface. To be honest I went based on a little reading research a few interfaces in the price range. I was also interested in this model given its recent release (new hardware and electronics  ) and found quite a bit of reference to the “stunning” audio quality and having had the unit now I can totally agree with that assessment. I also find working with it, in terms of setting up inputs and outputs and mixes is very straight forward. dspMixFx control app is pretty solid. Although, it would have been nice if Steinberg had written the manual and not Yamaha, as the manual seems to be a very sparse two word description of the item and not really a well documented functional description.

Still haven’t totally figured the Loopback mode, but am getting around it by sending specific channels out and then back in, assigned to a submix, and sorted with appropriate mutes. The temperature issue I had originally reported seems to have stabilized.

thx,
