I had made Halion tracks from my midi and I wanted to check the notes in the bass track to see if I might want to change any. I clicked on on and there was a loud low hum. click on another and maybe slightly different pitch but all low. It seemed like a stuck midi note or 60 cycle hum. I turned off various things and unplugged, but the sound remained. closed Cubase and the project, and no such sound. Went to the track editor and clicked on a note and the sound was back. I reverted to saved and it was gone. I tried seeing if this happened with the other Halion from midi tracks and it is only with this bass track. What is going on? I can’t edit it, as just clicking any note starts the droning sound.
It’s synth bass 1 (GM 038)
Tried snyth bass 2, and same thing. Seems as I click additional notes, adds pitches to the hum.
Does selecting “Reset” under MIDI in the menu stop the sound?
So you created/recorded the MIDI first, and then routed it to Halion?
What happens if you create a new (empty) MIDI track and route it to Halion, then add some notes in the editor?
Depending on how you created the original MIDI, there could be some hidden notes in there. Ways to check include opening the track with List Editor, and transposing the track up an octave or two to see if the “hum” is transposed as well.
What version of Halion Sonic? On my system, Synth Bass 1 is GM 039, and Synth Bass 2 is GM 040.
Today I started out with none of the rack synths turned on, opened the project and tried clicking on the bass notes and none sustained such a drone. then I turned on the Z8 and was loading and still testing and no drone. I noticed I had left off in the middle of the song and returned to the begining. I was noticing that clicked notes were sounding longer than their duration, but stopped when I unclicked in the editor. but then I had one continue droning. But I was able to stop it easily by going to the midi and resetting, so thanks, I didn’t know that was there.
