I was hoping to organize my templates into separate tiers - Mixing, Recording, Sound Design, etc, etc.
But the actual integrated default Templates section doesn’t incorporate the Sub-Folders of the actual Windows location. (another option to resolve this)
There’s two ways this could be done
In Hub Settings, where a user can add their own directories - there could be a checkbox per directory addition ‘Open as Template’. Thus when selecting any template in this directory will cue it to open as template.
In the actual home hub view where users can select projects/templates, user could right click on a project/template and select ‘Open as Template’ (this would have the benefit of users being able to use previous projects as new project templates - could have an additional prompt option to ignore media)
Thanks
edit just to clarify, the current problem with adding user directories to the Hub, is even when in the Windows/Steinberg template directory, they don’t/can’t be opened as a template
This would be good, although it has been requested many times. I think the reason it has not moved forward is, ambiguity how to handle the project data. For example. A Template does not contain a ton of audio tracks and so on.
So how would you deal with this, if the project was finished for example and you wanted to open it as template? It would end up opening with all its data. Which is basically the same as opening the project itself and then either using backup project to make a new project, (which is how many people already work), or saving it as template, for future use.
And then adding another prompt as you mentioned… Well then it becomes another step, which in the end would be almost as time consuming as making the template using the method above.
