New install of Cubase 10.5 demands activation

Just installed Cubase 10.5 on a new Windows 10 computer. It runs happily on my main machine (apart from some annoying dropouts) but it refuses to run on the new one when I insert the licence dongle. A message demands that I activate, as if this is a first-time install. I have no idea of my original activation key – the license is on the dongle. The machine can see the dongle and I have of course run the eLCC maintenance. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Steinberg support appears only to be accepting emailed queries, and warns that they may not be answered for days due to Covid. Can anyone else suggest a solution?

Are you sure you have a license for 10.5 on the dongle and not 10?

It’s running 10.5 happily enough on my other machine. I’ve never had this problem using other computers. It’s a damn nuisance. You’d think telephone support would be one thing that could operate in a pandemic. The web site implies that phone support is available but links to numbers don’t work.
