New install of Dorico 5 won't playback jazz articulation

Using the default sound library that comes with Dorico 5. playback recognizes staccato, but not scoops, doit, falls…Do I need a different sound library?? Brand new Finale<->Dorico 5 user. Thanks

Welcome!

I think you’re right that the bundled instruments don’t have those jazz techniques. You’ll need to check the Expression Map to see what expressions are included.

What were you using before? Noteperformer does have these techniques; but you can use the ARIA Player and Garritan instruments. There are some expression maps and Playback templates for GPO5 and JABB, which you can download from this forum.

I downloaded an eval copy of Noteperformer and have jazz articulations working, but it bounced everything into a stereo Noteperformer channel with nothing routing to the other Dorico channels. So I’ve lost control of the mix. I can’t find the Noteworthy mixer.

I tried Garritan and Aria, but I only have the version bundled with Finale.

Yes, Noteperformer’s mixer is inside its VST panel.

Is there a product I can purchase native to Dorico/Steinberg that will playback Jazz articulations??

There’s a (lengthy) thread about jazz samples here:

Have you used something before that could do what you want?
