CUBASE PRO 14. everything is just a downgrade. I can’t make Mediabay search for my audio files,.The subfolder function doesn’t work. You can favorite a library only if it is factory content, and you cannot unfavorite it afterward which is just dumb. This seriously affects my workflow, Ableton can do it 10 times better.
Can you please describe in more detail about the issues ?
For example:
- What are the steps you are doing to reproduce the issue ?
- Provide a detailed comparison between Cubase versions, how it functioned previously compared to how it functions now ?
- How would you like it to function ?
Consider providing screenshots and or video screen recording to help assist with your explanations.
I can’t compare it with the previous version because, after the upgrade, Cubase 13 is gone. The Mediabay used to scan all the third-party sample files (you can choose different media types) when I chose a folder in Explorer, which I assume works as designed. If It didn’t automatically scan all the files, I can manually let it scan the disc. Now it is all different. There is no option to set a folder as a user library. it can’t search for items in subfolders as it worked previously. I just want it to be the same as when you work with the VST Sound which is the factory content.
Cubase 14 shouldn’t have installed over the top of Cubase 13. Right click on your project file and select “Open with” and select Cubase 13.exe. Note that you may have to select “choose another app” and “more apps” if Cubase 13 isn’t available in the immediate displayed list of apps.
You should be able to locate the Cubase 13.exe in the following location.
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 13
It is indeed gone, I checked the folder. I used Steinberg Download Assistant, it automatically erases the data in the Cubase 13 folder.
Fortunately, I can install 12 and 13, that’s good news. The bad news is they changed the function back from 13. Here is what looks different.
That looks like a bug, are you able to get anything to show up in the “File Browser” section ?
I hope that is a bug, I can’t see anything show up in File Browser. What I’m trying to do is by using Cubase 12 to scan the disk.
I’m noticing 2 different things:
(1) You may need to reset the “Results Filter”
(2) It looks like the media bay is stuck on a folder named “Audio Sa…”
Yes, that is an indication that there is something really wrong on your install. I can assure you it is not like that for the rest of us.
What you can try to do is go to this location on your system hard drive:
C:\Users\{accountname}\AppData\Local\Steinberg\Steinberg MediaBay Server
(sorry, English only; for {accountname} you have to use your account name on Windows)
Make sure you have quit Cubase. Delete all the files in that folder. (You can also move them to another folder elsewhere in case you want to keep the data for now.)
Now re-start Cubase, go to Media Bay and try to initiate a full scan of your drives.
Does that help?
That usually does not happen unless you tell the installer to install Cubase in the Cubase 13 folder.
So, this is also very weird.
I found the solution. the right zone media seems to function well. So I deleted the favorited folder and restarted the Cubase. Then I favorite the folder that contains the audio samples that I need, it automatically links to the Mediabay. Weird that it won’t work in F5.
