I am currently using Artist 8 with an AMD based system. I’m intending to go over to a Mac based system later in the year but at the moment need to upgrade my MOBO to a SATA3 compatible, having just installed my first SSD drive. Current board is SATA 2 so I’m not getting the full performance of the drive. Current PCU is a AMD FX3600 6 core. I’m hoping someone can point me in the direction of the best AMD based board for use with with my current system until i make the change to Mac. Many thanks in advance.
In real life performance you won’t be able to notice any difference in performance from sata2 to sata3.
Peakae is spot on. The important thing you gain DAW-wise with an SSD is zero latency seek time. The transfer rate is almost irrelevant. You will not max out sata2 with DAW usage.
