Hello, AIAFBAN ( apologies in advance for being a nob!… )… I’ve buggered up my c drive, by deleting files which I shouldn’t’ve .. so getting new/ bigger one tomorrow, at great expense I might add!…I don’t really want to have to fork out for a new version cubase too!. How the **** do I reinstall/ download my old version of cubase 10.5 pro on my new drive? … I’ve read all the stuff about the e licenser usb thing ( no longer supported etc, tried to register the damn thing and computer say its already registered to another user!… ( i registered it when bought it new!!) totally confused by it all ( probably doesnt help being a 60+ year old!) … please help before I spent another $500 .. advice in layman’s terms will be much appreciated… cheers.. Im off for a beers!.
You already have the cubase 10 installer on a flash drive etc….check.
You have your elicenser dongle..check
With dongle inserted …download and install the teeny tiny 80mb elicenser dongle driver..the final one made from the sb downloads page…pay no attention to messages about server or maintenance or other riff raff 
….there is no elicenser server now ..check.
Install Cubase 10.5
Start it up.
Done.
Cubase 10.5 and elicenser dongle are a self-contained ecosystem. There is nothing further to do once Cubase 10 and the dongle “see” each other.
Don’t ever let your cat eat your elicenser dongle …you’ll then be in big trouble and will have to buy a newer cb version.

Download, install with your dongle plugged in - done.
Ah, and get yourself a dog that guards the dongle from your cat. Make sure the dog has a fancy toy to nibble on.

I’m thinking of upgrading to pro 15 , still expensive but cheaper than buying the full version if my cat does eventually eat the donkey.. do you know if I’ll still need the dongle with the new version? Or will I get a new license that will be saved on the Steinberg site? apologies if this is a daft question.. thanks again

a dongle is no longer needed since the new licensing system has been introduced with Cubase 12.
She’s tiny! … but wow is she vicious!! The donkey would have no chance! Neither would the dongle come to that!
Think I’ll take the plunge and upgrade, it’ll be my Christmas present to myself!

You’ll be surprised about the multitude of additional new features - it’s a huge leap from 10.5 to 15
Little tip: If you want to familiarize yourself with the new features you can watch Chris Selim’s overviews on each version after 10.5 (search “Cubase xy Chris Selim Youtube”):
Chris briefly explains new features without trying to sell them to you. This way you’ll be prepared when you open the envelope with the C15 Access Code at Christmas while you will be totally surprised about this very thoughtful gift.
