New Pc setup Cubase 15 pro STILL stalling and crashing

Cubase 15.0.21 64bit2026.5.21 13.02.21.179.dmp (2.1 MB)

So ive just re-installed pretty much all of my music production software onto a new PC (what a HUGE mission) and well…again…stall…freeze…crash…vanish from screen.

This is an entire different PC how can i be experiencing the same thing as i did on my old PC?..

Yeah its not “BRAND NEW” but my old one was pretty much dead in the ground so im making do with this one untill i can find the funds to buy a brand new one. These things are expensive.

Im truly devastated.

Yes ALL of my software is legit purchased nothing is pirated.

That is the DMP file at the top of the post.

Im off to work now to be sad and depressed.

Woe is me.

Just to see if this is a C15 issue, why don’t you install Cubase 12 13 or 14? Just for troubleshooting. There are people with completely stable C14 where 15 fails.

Just trying to be helpful, you are not obligated to try it.

The dump shows an access violation in ntdll.dll, which most likely means Cubase was making a call to system services and passed bad data. There’s no way to tell what the circumstances were when the call was made.

I notice your machine is pretty old and also that you appear to be running Windows 11 25H2. Is this a forced install?

Im just gonna bite the bullet and get into massive debt and buy a brand new PC.

Yes it was a forced install setup by a friend. At this point it looks like i shoulda just stuck with my old PC and saved up for a brand new modern one…Aww man. I guess i was just in a rush to put my old one behind me because i was literally about to throw it in the local river it was driving me wild with failures and crashes and problems i just couldnt seem to fix. It was just out dated and with Windows 10 so it was always gonna be a problem that would only get worse.

well…its gonna be a finance job for me.

At least it will be modern and up to date or as much as an “up to date and modern” PC can be for that brief moment in time these days haha.

Oh well.

I will just not tell the wife why im broke for the next year hahaha.

It should work! Have you installed the C++ runtimes etc, Latest Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One May 2026 Download | TechPowerUp Or install win10. more stable and error free and supported on this hardware.

A new machine might not help. This is a very decent setup. I run Cubase on a less powerful and very old 2600k system. Win10. Without issues and plenty powerful for me.

Another solution, clone yor bootdrive from your old PC and try it on the new one. You might need some drivers, but most of the time this works perfect. Also might need to reboot a few times if it hangs.

The answer…because.

By the way, you left out a lot of critical info imo.

It appears (as near as I can figure) you acquired a friend’s computer that already had x amount of stuff installed…you then proceeded to blindly spend 12 hours installing your entire pile of software…and only then…tested.

At least from the way you described

Kinda like taking off for Mars before testing the rocket…or at least making sure the refrigerator in the rocket has plenty of soda for the trip

So as to not encounter the same thing on your next factory-boxed pc, I’m sure you’ll do things differently…

beginning with a clean win11 Pro install (no matter what the factory oem setup), a few passes of driver updates the first day, clean install of your interface driver, clean install of cb15…and then stop. Test.

Entire pile of “other” software, vst, vsti etc etc…wait until core system tested and verified glitch free and great latency numbers.

I’m sure you already do things this way of course. You just didn’t say.

That’s very comforting to know. I was just pricing up a modern tower and it appears I need to sell a few organs to pay for half of it haha

Sorry it was a completely wiped empty unit no software at all installed. My dad is a videogame programmer and his company where getting rid of old gear and he gave me it.

So nothing at all was on it. Completely started from scratch.

UPDATE: Just gave up on the not so new PC and went back to my old one which runs everything fine and faster.

Gonna bite the bullet and get myself in a financial hole for the next two years and purchase a brand new modern PC lol.
