I am working on a symphonic score that I imported into Dorico as an XML file created in Logic Pro. All the imported staves look great. However, when I add new players and instruments (one instrument per player), the bars are empty—no whole rests, nothing. Unfortunately, I do not know of a function in Dorico that would allow me to fill empty measures with either implicit or explicit rests, something that was a breeze in Finale. Does anyone know how to get rests into those newly created staves?
Check out Layout options. Type bar rests in the search field : it should bring you to the setting you’re looking for (padding bars with rests).
The option Marc is referring to is Show bar rests in empty bars and is found on the Players page of Layout Options.
