not sure I should comment on this genre
as it’s out of my area, but the hats really
fill up the space, almost like there are
multiple pairs of them. Perhaps it is either
reverb or delay doing that. Together with
the snare and its treatment it adds up to
a lot of edginess. As I say I know you are
after a power rock sound and I am not really
up to speed with that.
Are you compressing the drums?
What happens if you don’t, or if you compress them less?

the first mix was an indication of what cloth ears and not liking production can do

Some dude called Sherz remixed this one way back in 2012. Now that was a pretty cool version if I remember rightly… 
I’ve had multiple computer crashes and lost a lot of stuff since then so unfortunately it no longer exists…
it was cool though…
