New to Cubase;how do I cut a song

I am new to cubase. Can I upload an mp3 file and cut it to change the length of the song?

Create an audio track.
Drag the mp3 onto the audio track.
Right click to bring up the quick menu and select scissor icon.
Left click on the audio event at the point you want to cut it.
Delete the section you don’t want to keep.

Thanks, now how do I get sound on a laptop with just the default sound card?
