New to Steinberg Having trouble recording Vsts.

I am having trouble recording Vst in Cubase 7. I cant seem to record what I hear, can someone help me identify what I am have missed?

Shouldn´t people then know what you are doing first…?

Exactly what are you trying to record and exactly how?

The way I was going about recording was all wrong. I was using the keyboard in the VST GUI trying to record, when I should be inputting notes using midi.

Or you can draw them in with the pencil tool.
