NEW USER* Cubase stops recording

So I’m running Cubase Le 7 AI, and I hit record… it records for a couple seconds, then stops… but it is still playing… without recording anything…
I have googled it and it seems this was a pretty popular issue a couple years back but I couldn’t find anyone had any solutions… is this still a problem? Has there been a fix for this?
Running Windows 10
64 BIT OS

i5-7200U CPU @2.50GHz

Make sure, you have the latest update installed, please.

Does Cubase provide any message?

Make sure, you are not using any Remote Device, which could send MIDI data to trigger this.
