Hello everyone. I’m new to using Dorico. I do love it but I’m working on my degree in music production and the music technology class I’m taking is only making Dorico more confusing. Is there any help out there? An actual person to talk to?

In addition to people here who can help with issues, there are a bunch of great videos at https://youtube.com/dorico. Prefer the more recent ones; the older ones still have some valid info, but the UI has changed over the years, and there are often simpler ways of doing things now that used to take more effort. Newer videos are also linked in the Learn tab of the Steinberg Hub that opens when you launch Dorico.

There’s a general list of resources here:

In particular, the First Steps Guide is a great way to get familiar basic operations – although if you’re already a couple of months into your class, this may be stuff you’re familiar with.

Hello, everyone! I need step by step instructions on how to prepare a file in Dorico and export it as a MIDI file.

May I politely suggest reading the 1200 page manual? These are very basic things, all in the manual, described in detail. A thorough study of that text will stand you in good stead for years.

Well, start by going through the First Steps Guide of which @asherber provided just above.

Then , if you have your document, you can read here how to export Midi

This covers quite a lot of ground. But as said, there are lots of resources, including the First Steps guide, and YouTube videos about setting up documents and entering notes.

But if you have a specific question, then do ask it.

I really appreciate your help. All the information that was provided was very useful. I’m using Dorico for my Music technology class at Liberty University and I struggle with Dorico. To me Dorico is like dating an extremely intelligent woman, either she’s too complicated for me to love her or I’m too simple to understand her.

:joy: but once you fit that love might be forever.

Dorico, just like Sibelius, is a professional Software and not an App for casual use.

To me personally I found it much easier to learn than Sibelius.
