New ways in which I have messed up Cubase... (Please help. There's no hope for me)

I had no clue I can mess my cubase up this badly. I’ve been trying to make an original composition and the result has been that I just screwed up my settings for every single project file instead.

I tried to reset settings back to defaults but that did not fix any of my problems.

For starters, grid for the tracks is completely out of sync with the grid for my MIDIs, so I am struggling to position stuff correctly. A different post said I need to set the MIDI timestamp as the device timestamp or something so I did that and it did NOT help.

Secondly, whatever I did made every single MIDI track I’ve made de-sync with the MIDI grid too. I had clearly snapped them to the grid but when I opened a different project after ruining my settings, I found that all the MIDI notes were offset from the grid by some amount. And of course it does not help that the MIDI and the track have de-synchronised, grid-wise.

Thirdly, whenever I try to move a part within some section of the grid, it either snaps too far back or too far forward. So if I want to move it like one line/beat to the left or right, it does not let me. It tries to move me 2 bars forward or 2 bars back usually.

Changing the Grid from Bar to Beat did not help this.

I keep trying to find answers but it feels like no one else has faced the specific problems I am facing, or no one else is as hopeless at Cubase as I am.

I really want to create original music but this software is kicking my a///. Please help me fix my bizarre timing issues. I beg.

I did not have these issues back when I was just working on MIDIs to make song covers with Vocaloid. It specifically showed up because I got ambitious thinking I can try and make a song. Is this the universe’s way of keeping me humble???

Thank you for the advice and sorry for my rambling post and incompetence!

Please post a screenshot of your project.

Are you sure about this? A lot of your descriptions match the issue that you have switched the timeline to “Seconds” or “Timecode”. BTW, “Bars + Beats” are one entry, you can’t switch from Bars to Beats. (note to myself: read posts carefully before replying!)

Thanks for the screenshots. Ruler settings look ok.
I apologize for my statement that there is no individual Bar and Beat item. My mind was set to the ruler and I overlooked you mentioning the grid setting. Thanks for clearing it up in your shot.

So on the screenshot, if you try to move the selected midi part to the right to start on bar 6 (position 6.1.1.0) to which position would the part move?

the offset setting seems to be strange? (project window in the info line says offset =0.0.1.83, maybe you accidentally set that? it will offset all the notes in a part.
