Newbie question on MIDI

Hi folks,

Another idiot beginner question here…

I’m using Elements 7, and just starting to get to grips with using MIDI.

I have a Yamaha PS-E333 keyboard connected to my laptop via a USB cable.

I have managed to get Cubase to record notes from it into a track on a test project. But at the moment all I have is the keyboard’s original piano sounds, playing back from Cubase on the keyboard itself (i.e. the keyboard is set up as output as well as input).

I’m assuming I ought to be able to assign different sounds to the MIDI notes, and play them back via headphones.

How do I do this?

go f11 - rack inst- vst- done. make sure channel / output set correctly
