So I’ve set up my first VST for Dorico - a Kontakt Scarbee bass guitar. Got it sounding on the track and figured out how to solve the octave transposition (I think the plugin AND Dorico were both doing an octave transposition.)
But something keeps turning down the audio level in Kontakt. I set it around 3.0, go to work in the notation track, and suddenly it’s almost inaudible, around -4.0 … keeps happening. I had Kontakt ‘unlearn’ the CC assignment for volume - no difference.
Partially solved - I inserted some volume messages, and playback is working. But when I stop playback. the plugins internal volume resets to its lowest value and is inaudible for editing and note entry.
Any idea where a 0 volume message would come from on the playback stopping?
Yes, possibly from a MIDI fader for that channel that is set to 0 or some other low value. If you look at your mixer, the MIDI channels might be hidden, if so, just click on the button to show them.
in the Kontakt Instrument Options (click on the wrench), you need to go to “Controller” and then change the setting for “Accept standard controllers for #7 and #10”. It’s most likely you have it enabled and that should be changed to disabled.
