Yup. Audio tracks use less resources than VSTi.
10 songs with their own instances… - only one song is loaded at at a time and that includes its VSTi

25 year old me would have insisted on 10 VSTs and then wondered why my old G3 Mac couldn’t take it. 50 year old me craves stability.

VST Live uses practically no significant CPU (audio processing) power by itself. It is pretty much always down to the plugins you use.
