Next step, Mastering

Hi all,
I’m 66, amateur hobbyist and just finished my version of Bruckner’s 4th Finale.
Took me a lot of time. Next step would be learning Mastering this work.
I have no experience and do only classical work. Any advise, tips…?
Thanks in advance,
Twan

To be honest your best bet is to listen to other recordings to get a feel for how they sound, especially look at EQ and loudness. If you’ve already mixed mastering is the final step to release. The better your mix the easier the mastering will go. Main things to look at are EQ, compression, width, and loudness…if you look up loudness for classical music you’ll get some idea of a target to shoot for, but nothing is set in stone

You can also look for Mastering video tutorials to help get you started…Groove3, etc.

Best of luck!

Cookie thanks!!

Is nice. But ya pretty quiet.

I compared it with the “best classical pieces” on youtube and that is quiet too. Not sure if it’s the genre, but with only a few instruments going they don’t seem to have it very loud; similar to yours. I wonder if it’s to avoid over compressing.

Hi,
I think that is how this work should be performed.
