Is there an engraving option for making the circle for niente hairpins bigger? I find it too small

You can use the Music Symbols editor to increase its size.

Is there a way of making the circle thinner? I like the bigger size but I wish ut could be slightly thinner.

Possibly. That would require you to use a different glyph. There are lots of options there, but I don’t do much with modifying symbols.
