I’m using Cubase Elements 10.5 together with another DAW that doesn’t handle Waves .vst3 plugins too well. In order for the .vst3 plugins not to appear in the second DAW I’ve moved the vst3 Waveshell to Cubase’s own vst3 folder. Lately I’ve been getting an occasional crash on launching Cubase with a kernelbase.dll error and according to the crash dump file the culprits are the Waves plugins. Everything is 100% legal - could it be that changing the location is causing the problem? Of course, sod’s law, I can’t get it to crash to order so moving it back hasn’t really told me much as it’s working fine right now…
VST3 plugins are handled with own installers. To move VST3 files isn’t a good idea unless you are using a tool made for the task.
It will break the installation.
It could be possible. Waves offers a tool, called Waves Central, that helps to manage the plugins and the installation.
It is not easy to use for the advanced tasks, but it could be worth a try.
Thanks for the quick reply - I do have Waves Central installed so I’ll have a look but the main problem is that the problem is very occasional and I can’t reproduce it to order. I tend to think that moving the Waveshall to a different location may well be a mistake so I’ll move it back to the default Common Files location and see what happens. Thanks once again…
