It shows data, but no sound. Nothing has changed, was working fine before as well as wav export works fine.

Do you mean during the export? Or is there no signal in the resulting MP3 file? What is your MP3 player? How does it look like, if you import the MP3 file back to Cubase?
no audio after exporting. I ve tried playback on itunes as well as others. Exported an mp3 from another track and works fine. When I import the non audible file, it shows stereo tracks and plays back fine in cubase. Weird. I just did another mp3 and it works fine. Oh well. thanks, mc
