No audio in Dorico 5

Hi! I cant get any sound in Dorico 5. Halion Sonic is installed and I can see it in the playmode (VST instruments). In the Device setup the Stereo output seems to be chosen correctly (Realtek) but underneath that it says "Mono output detected) and in the Device control panel it seems to be only one audio channel, might that be the problem and how can I solve it?

Welcome to the forum, Johan. Sorry to hear you’re having problems with playback. In the first instance, you might try downloading and installing the FlexASIO driver and choosing that in Dorico’s Device Setup dialog. That might just get everything working right away.

Hi!

Wonderful, It seems to work.

Thank you for very fast and nice service!

Hello there, I have a smilar problem. i just installed the Dorico 5 Pro on my laptop, but I cańt hear any sound.Could you explain me step by step what to do?

I cańt install Dorico Playback 1 - Halion Sonic Se2 nor Dorico Playback 2 Orchestra Library. I receive a message “An error occured” Please try again later….

Welcome to the forum, @coquipromotions. Are you able to run Steinberg Download Assistant on your computer? If so, please run Steinberg Download Assistant, and in the list of products on the left-hand side, choose Dorico Pro 5 under My Product Downloads, then on the right-hand side, click Install All to install all required components. When all the progress bars are green and show a checkmark, you can run Dorico, and hopefully everything should play back as expected.

If not, please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report from within Dorico and attach the resulting zip file here.

Thank you for your quick reply. yes, everything is green , except the history. But I am unable to upload that one. And I cańt find the Diagnostic Report in Help…
Just thinking, is it because I have a Laptop HP 470 GB Notebook and there’s not enough space available?

If I start Dorico I receive this: Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine. The application will now quiet

Hi, most likely the problem is a “rotten” plug-in or component. To find out, please rename temporarily following folders

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\Shared Components
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

(Rename to for example _VST3 etc.)
So with those 3 folders renamed, start Dorico again and see how it does behave. If it does start, it is still not the end of the work, because we have to find which of the contained components/plug-ins is the troublemaker.
Then you rename the folders back to their original name, one by one, and each time in between start Dorico again and see how it behaves.
I’d start with the Shared Components folder.
If it turns out to be that something is wrong with a component from there, please make a file listing and post here.
Thanks

THanks Ulf for your quick respons,

  1. The Diagnostic Report is to large to upload…
  2. I only have5.52 GB left from 112 GB on Windows 11 .Could that be causing the problem?
  3. I don’t see :\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg*Shared Components* I only see here: Activation Manager and Media Bay.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2

I did change C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 into C:\Program Files\Common Files_VST3 Looking forward for your help.

Can you please send to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de ?
