I get no sound at all. please help as i am trying to design shows soon and need a quality softwhere to help with that. i am also on dorico 5 elements

Welcome to the forum @riley.davis3213 .
Please load a project and then do Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post here the corresponding zip file. From that I can give further advice. Thanks

If you are designing shows (if that means what I think it means) you will probably find it much harder to do in Elements than in Pro; so if you can muster the financing, it might pay to upgrade while Steinberg is offering discounts (if they still are).

I understand if affordability is a problem, and I certainly wish you the best working on your shows with Elements.

Greetings Ulf:
Same Problem?
iMac with 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Using Dorico Version 5.1.81.2225 (Jan 16 2025)
Dorico 5 AudioEngine Version 5.6.42.5
Note Performer 4
With no problems.
Went to change a quarter note to a dotted quarter and -suddenly-no sound.
None.
In either Write or Play Mode.

All other compositions in Dorico playback fine.

I will create a Diagnostic File and Post the Zip file here.
Shall I Also attach the .Dorico Score?
Thank you.
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (780.7 KB)

Update: Audio Export (.WAV) also fails.

Mute button in the mixer? Or solo.

Jesper

Yes, Jesper is right, there are several audio channels soloed. So go to the Play Mode or the mixer window, and clear all solo buttons on any channel, then you will hear something again, and export will also work.
Especially make sure that not one of the unused channels is in solo state.

That is one of the first thing I checked.
I frequently use the Solo function (to check harmonies, orchestration, etc.).
None of the voices are in Solo mode
I also just noticed that in Play Mode, NotePerformer shows the correct instruments as active (I’d be happy to send either a .mov or a screen shot).
But there is no sound.
Indeed: It is behaving exactly as if the Solo Button is active for an instrument that has nothing scored.
If the score (typical Piano Concerto, with common orchestration) will help,
I will be happy to attach it to see if it replicates at your end.
I was not in the mixer - or play mode- when this happened.
I was changing a quarter note to a dotted quarter.

Thank you.

P.S. I have also tried re-booting, and performing a “SaveAs”.
(the Copy also has no playback audio).
And again, all other Dorico compositions play back perfectly.

SOLVED!:

I disabled “Independent Voice Playback”, and then Reset the NotePerformer Controller. I have no idea why this worked, but it did. I do not have Independent Voice Playback on any previous compositions.
I think this was a one-off occurrence.
Thanks all for taking the time to assist, and best regards.
