Neatly following the instructions of the Dorico tutorials by Anthony Hughes I try to change the sound of some instruments. I created a special try and error sheet for study purposes. I’m certainly doing something wrong and hope someone can help me out.
So, why is my bass not sounding? When I control the sound on the piano keys in the library it is alright, but in the score I hear nothing.

Thank you very much, Ben. In slot 1 it works. I had it in six to reserve the lower slots for other instruments. In the Track inspector I had also 6 checked, but apparently that doesn’t work that way. Anyway, I changed the bass in a full score and it sounds but now the tenor sax also uses the bass sound.
If 6 was selected in the track inspector, it should have worked, hmm. I use Garritan w/Aria quite frequently without issue. Glad you found a resolution.
Can you upload a project with the problem?
That suggests that the sax is also sending to the same channel/slot.
I find the easiest way is to create a new ARIA vst for every instrument, and just put one Garritan instrument in Slot 1 of each.
Then assign each Dorico instrument to each ARIA Player. You can even rename the VST in the Endpoint Config, so it’s called “ARIA Sax”, or whatever in the drop-down.
I have had complete success with entering as many as 16 instruments in one Aria Multi player and using the various channels. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Endpoint Setup? I typically adjust that to show all 16 channels.
