I use Cubase Elements 11 and recently did a Windows reset which caused me to have to reinstall cubase. And now I cannot access it due to the eLicenser being discontinued. I still try to put the code in but get the ‘No eLicenser Selectable’ window pop up telling me to connect a usb-elicenser, which I never had.
Any help on fixing this so I can start using the software again would be much appreciated
Unfortunately Cubase 11 Elements used the Soft-eLicenser, which is basically a file somewhere on the disk of your computer. If this file is gone, or something else made it invalid, it can not be recreated anymore.
What you can do is to update your Cubase 11 Elements to the current Cubase 15 Elements release, so that you get rid of the discontinued eLicenser system and use the Steinberg Licensing now.
You can find all information about the eLicenser shutdown here.
So you have C11 elements and had a soft-elicenser correct? After a few years of notification, the eLicenser service closed down this past May. You should have received an email to your registered account about this.
You should contact Steinberg support. Give them all the documentation you have about your license. Make sure you use your registered email address when contacting them.
Out of curiosity, do you remember what you paid for C11 elements?
It was over $100AUD when I got it around 2020. So I haven’t really had it that long. And I am aware about eLicenser closing, I got all those notifications but a windows reset forced me to have to do a reinstall and really, its not right that we cannot use something we have paid for.
I can understand that this is a frustrating situation. Here’s what you can do looking forward.
Make sure that your license is either already registered in your MySteinberg account or contact Steinberg support to verify your purchase like @Greg_Purkey suggested.
The update from Cubase 11 Elements to 15 is currently available for 50€ (I don’t know how much that is in AUS). If you wait for the summer sale next year it will be most probably 40% off.
I know that this is not what you want but it’s the only way forward. Look at the bright side: you will get a lot of new features and content for a reasonable fee.
Those events cam happen at any time, and usually when it’s least convenient.
But the time to protect yourself was when you heard from Steinberg that the eLicensing system was shutting down. There is some recovery possible for those with a dongle, but Steinberg made it very clear that soft eLicenses were unrecoverable after the servers were shut down.
However, even back then you would have had to buy an upgrade to move to SAM licensing, so instead you have to do it now.
I know some folks think that once a software product is purchased it’s good forever, but there are myriad examples where this is just not the case.
You had all the relevant information and Steinberg made it very clear that such a reset causes the Soft eLicenser to become invalid. You decided for yourself to ignore all warnings.
@Scab_Pickens just told you that you had all information and now try to make Steinberg responsible for your failure. That is not rude, it is just the reality.
Nope, you are just rude. And you have no idea what measures I took with the information from steinberg. You are very good at assuming you know everything. Please stop posting in my topic since you have nothing helpful to contribute
Their response of $49.99 to buy Cubase Elements 15 instead of its full $100 price is very helpful/reasonable imo. Good thing you had your original version 11 registered in your Steinberg account
You will also now have the ability to activate/deactivate various computers you may own in your future, use up to 3 computers at a time, easily install/reinstall your operating systems without then relying on a Cubase elicenser for your Cubase reinstalls.
Plus, you’ll have the newest Cubase version now.
Not bad for $50. The way I see it, Steinberg is being very helpful here.
I am in Australia, it will cost more than that. And I have checked for it, it doesn’t seem to be available here yet. So no idea how much it’s going to cost.
I have sent a support request for a license transfer of my Cubase Elements 14 license. As soon as I get the new download access code, I will send you a PM. It’s all yours. Merry early Christmas!
