I’m writing a string trio (violin, viola, bass) using nonstandard key signatures. I would like to create two versions of each part: one with key signatures, and one without, like a timpani or harp part. Is this possible?
You would need to duplicate the players and the contents of their staves, and then adjust the layouts accordingly. The contents of the staves wouldn’t be “dynamic,” but you can add an independent key signature by closing the popover with Alt-Enter.
Yes, you’d have to use an atonal/open key signature in each of your duplicate string instruments; this will cause all notes that need accidentals (subject to the accidental durations rules specified on the Accidentals page of Notation Options) to show them.
