My Dorico playback has been working since I installed it using the Steinberg Assistance for at least one year. My computer did a Window 11 update and afterwards I could not log into my computer due to the pin number not being available. So, I went through a Microsoft procedure and was able to recreate my pin number. When I Logged onto my computer everything worked except, I could not get sound from playback in Dorico 6. The curser moves across the screen when playback is on and I see volume level lights moving in the play Halion Sonic mode but no sound. I get sound for YouTube and I get sound for my other music notation software such as Smartscore64, Home Concert Extreme and any sound test that I run. I even deleted my last Window 11 update and that did not fix it. I reloaded all of the Dorico files using the Steinberg Assistance and that did not fix it. I checked everything that Anthony Hughes recommended on YouTube and still no sound. So, is there anything that you can tell me to do to fix this problem? Raybell
Ray, I don’t have an answer for you; @ulf or someone will look at this for sure.

Hi @rbellamy2 , what if you go to Edit > Device Setup, what driver is selected and what ouput stereo port?
And welcome to the forum!
Driver: Steinberg built in ASIO Driver Output: Realtek Digital Output (Real 1, Realtek Digital Output Real 2
I’ve experienced the same problem - frustrating! The program seems to ignore the fact that my headphones are plugged in, opting only for the tiny laptop speakers, which are not nearly enough to properly hear the music. We would welcome a solution.
Welcome to the forum.
The solution likely rests with your particular operating system settings. There are numerous threads on how to fix this.
Hi @rbellamy2 ,
the Realtek Digital Output you most likely don’t want to use, because to make it audible you’d need some special interface and a digital to analogue converter.
But if you are in the Device Setup dialog, click on the button labelled Device Control Panel another little window opens. In the list of output ports there, are there any other items than the digital outs, maybe something like Realtek Speakers (or similar) . You make them active by checking with a crossmark in front of the label and closing the dialog.
With that information, are you able to find some outputs that work for you?
I finally got my DORICO 6 playback sound working again. In the device setup I had to change my stereo output from “Realtek digital output “ to “Speaker Realtek output” and I get playback sound again.
Fixed it. Go to the bottom of the Edit menu where you’ll see “Device Setup.” Click on “Device Control Panel” at the upper right side. Check the “Headphone” box, and you’re done.
I found and fixed the problem. In device setup the driver output some how got set to “Realtek digital output”. When I changed it to “speaker Realtek output” I got sound for playback.
Everything was working for about a year and then after a window 11 update I got no sound from DORICO playback and I have no idea how that got changed.
They do that to me all the time!
