No possible to record : Error "Too many tracks recording"

Hi All !
I’m sorry to write another post on the subject but I’m totally lost !
Using C13 for midi editing, and everything’s OK. But I want to record audio track on a new project and the same message everytime : “Recording error, too many tracks recording”.
I read old topics on that and I thought it has been fixed.

In my case, I have sound input and Output. My rig is under W10 and large enough ram (64go) and nvme space disk.
I tried on several HDD, SSD, nvme and the problem is still there.
Tried with generic asio (I use a scarlett 6i6) and focusrite Asio, the same.
I’ve no specific graphic card (CPU Intel chipset on motherboard).
I tried with C12, same problem. I tried with different sample rate values, and buffer sizes.

Everything seem to work great (orchestral mockups with multiple FX) but not for a simple audio track !!

Thanks for helpîng if you have any idea.

Hi,

Could you test your system by using LatencyMon utility, please?

Hi Martin
Thank you for your help !
I installed and ran Latency Mon.
My system appears to be suitable for handling real-time audio.
Here’s a screenshot

My system is I 12700K with 64go Ram
2 Nvme (one for the system, another for libraries and projects) and 1 SSD, 1 HDD (for storage)
Audio interface is a Scarlett 6i6

Another screenshot few minutes later

Thank you

Hi,

It’s interesting, how did the values increase after some minutes. Could you run the test few more times after some time, please?

I had an error message explaining that some troubles may cause dropouts on audio processing, after 5 mn of playing latency mon, a priori due to the WLAN adapter… ? So, I tried disabling the ethernet card in the device manager on W10, and here was my solution !
Odd, once disabled, I can record without any problem. But weird, I oviously tried with ethernet re-enabled, and it’s still ok. Another bizarrerie of Cubase under W10 !
Thank you so much Martin, without Latency Mon, I never would have fixed the problem !

So if the message “Recording error, too many tracks recording” appears on record session (even if there is only one track), try running Latency Mon to find clues. For me it was the ethernet card to be disabled (just disabled and re-enabled). An unexplained conflict. Aaaah, windows 10 still makes me dream so many years after !

Thanks again Martin
