Hi…I am trying to transfer some old tape recordings to Cubase LE8.
All settings are on… tape recorder to Firepod to Macbook Pro.
It says the preferences are setup on Mac and ASIO driver is setup .
I press record and it doesn’t record…no signal coming through.
Any ideas?
It sounds like you’ve set up your hardware and software correctly, but you’re not getting any signal when trying to record in Cubase LE8. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Hardware Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected between your tape recorder, Firepod interface, and Macbook Pro. Verify that the Firepod interface is powered on and recognized by your computer.
Check Input Settings in Cubase: Open Cubase LE8 and go to the Preferences or Settings menu. Check the audio device settings to ensure that the Firepod interface is selected as the input device. Verify that the correct input channels are selected in Cubase for recording from your tape recorder.
Check Input Levels: In Cubase, open the mixer or input channel strip where you’re trying to record. Make sure the input gain levels are set appropriately on the Firepod interface. You should see signal levels indicating input activity. Adjust the input gain levels if necessary to ensure a healthy signal level without clipping.
Check Monitoring Settings: Ensure that monitoring is enabled in Cubase so that you can hear the incoming signal while recording.
Check the monitoring settings to make sure you’re monitoring the correct input channels.
Check Tape Recorder Playback: Verify that your tape recorder is playing back the audio properly. Try listening through headphones connected directly to the tape recorder to confirm.
Check Cubase Track Arm and Record Enable: Make sure the track you’re trying to record on is armed for recording (usually indicated by a red “record enable” button). Ensure that the transport control is set to record mode (usually indicated by a red “record” button).
Test with Different Software: If possible, try recording with a different recording software or DAW to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to Cubase or if it’s a broader issue with your setup.
Check System Preferences on Mac: Verify that the audio settings in the System Preferences on your Mac are correctly configured to use the Firepod interface as the input device.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with recording in Cubase LE8. If the problem persists, double-check your hardware connections and consult the user manual or support resources for your specific equipment for further assistance.
Thanks so much, Andrea.
