Hi @ASUNDER,
are you referring the “J” keyboard command that quickly toggles Snap on and off? That is useful…might help…
Also if you drop down the Edit Menu, at the bottom of the list is “Key Commands” a comprehensive assigment tool. You can easily search a function like “SNAP” and then select any related control that adjusts parameters around this function, and assign them to any key you wish.
Hope you get it sorted…
Nah, the actual hold modifier to temp disable snap.
For moving notes off-grid this is crucial. Drag the note while holding Alt to move it off the grid. Now I have to use the disable snap hotkey, then drag my notes, then push it again. And the hotkey only works on the one side of the windows, not both, and you might forget that you’ve disabled snap, so it could mess you up later. ? Why? Just give us an Alt modifier already.
Oh ya, I already had that set to Alt. Forgot about that. It’s good but it’s only for the resizing. That’s half the battle. We also need moving events (drag and drop).
Maybe because you have the disable snapping modifier set to the alt key, that is causing the duplication while also disabling snapping. You should try another modifier like command or control to see if that works better for you.
Yes that’s it. I just figured that out too. The other commands having the same one conflicts and it doesn’t work. It’s only working on Ctrl instead of Alt but close enough.
@ASUNDER That’s good news. Also after what you explained about notes falling outside of events, I really agree, it can take time. it’s got me thinking about a macro that I might have a go at, to possibly help the problem. Maybe improve adjusting multiple events automatically, to fit around any notes played, also with an auto toggle for snap incorporated. The more I thought about it, the more I realised Its a good idea! It would really help me out with similar problems. I’ll keep you posted. I’m sure someone has already written this!
Ya I’ve tried macroes too, while I was still stuck with it.
The problem with my macros I tried, is I can do a ‘J hold down left mouse button J’. But then it holds down J too. It would have to send the J keystroke once, hold the mouse button while my macro button is held down, then wait for button release then send J again once I release the button.
