If you could post a Diagnostic report here, I’m sure that would help folks speed up a response to your query.
Yes, please, load one of your projects and then choose from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here.
If I have that file, I’m sure I can quickly help you.
Hi Ulf,
Apologies for my rather hasty exit yesterday.
I have my Dell laptop running with Dorico 5 and Miroslav Philharmonik 2. I have imported a project that I’m working on and again I’m hampered by the lack of playback. Interestingly I discovered a previous project from some while back which played Miroslav Philharmonik 2 sounds back perfectly!
Any advice from you as to why one project works and another does not would be gratefully appreciated.
Kind regards
Ian

hi @ninetofortytwo your attachment is missing…
Hi Ian,
as Christian already mentioned, there is no attachment to your last post. Please try again. It is least error prone if you zip it up before posting.
Thanks
Hi, hope you get this time. I’m not sure that the Zip file is a bit big for sending by email.
Let me know if you get it or not.
Many thanks,
Ian

If the zip file is larger than 4MB, you won’t be able to attach it here. You may need to send it to Ulf via email at u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de.
It seems that the Dorico Diagnostics Zip file is over its 4MB limit and is unable to be sent by email!
Regards
Ian
Ian, you need to start a new email in your email program and enter the address u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de (substituting the word “at” for @ and the word “dot” for .), then attach the diagnostic zip file to that email and send it to Ulf that way. Replying to a message from the forum will try and send the message to the forum.
Then, @ninetofortytwo , you need to put the file in a Dropbox-like site and send Ulf the link to the file or folder.
Hi @ninetofortytwo,
if you still can’t get the file to me, i will send you tomorrow morning a link to an upload site. You can upload files to there and I can download them from there.
Hi @ninetofortytwo , I’ve sent you a private message via this forum. Please check.
Good Morning Ulf,
Please see attached the file Dorico Diagnostics.
If you haven’t received it then I presume that the file is too large for gmail to deal with.
Kind regards
Ian

Hi Ulf,
If you can hack into my Desktop there is a Zip folder there which I’m happy for you to access if you wish.
Kind regards
Ian
Hi @ninetofortytwo , thank you, I’ve received your diagnostics directly from you and also via Daniel. I’m a bit late, but I will take a look now and come back asap.
Hello again @ninetofortytwo ,
only from the logs I can’t tell for sure, it would be rather better if I could see the original Dorico project files. Could you please send me? From my side full confidentiality is guaranteed. But if you still have concerns, you could completely remove all notes from the piece, then Save As and then send me the modified versions. They will still contain the complete audio engine state, which is the most important part for me to look at.
Thanks very much
Hi @ninetofortytwo ,
thanks for the project file. Even though it is just a string quintet arrangement, the audio engine part contains 127 (!) instances of BBCSO. By the looks of it, there seems to be one instance for each potential instrument of the BBCSO.
And though I don’t see a reason why your project should not make a sound, it might just takes a very, very long time to load that project, because BBCSO will preload samples for all 127 instances.
Does the Play button (at the right top area of the Dorico window) ever become green when you load that project? Even if, it still might be that sound files need to get preloaded for all the 127 instances. Depending on the spec of your system, this can take up to several minutes.
What if you choose from Dorico’s menu Play > Playback Template and instead of the BBCSO choose the HSO template (there are several, but choose one with HSO in the name). That should load then within seconds and sound come out.
So with the current setup of your project, your computer seems to be just overwhelmed.
We could try another Zoom session if you get your microphone issue sorted.
