No sound for play/scrub (checked previous posts)

Cubase Pro 15.0.30 on Windows 11. MOTU M4.

I’m not getting sound with either the scrub or play tool. I do get sound in the media bay preview.

I’ve seen suggestions to disable control room (no! don’t take away my control room!), to set the preference to preview in phones, and to make sure the control has a “Monitor 1”. These are all from forum posts, but I can’t seem to get it working. Perhaps these screen shots will generate other suggestions?

Please check the connection settings for your audio interface (see screenshots). You won’t be able to hear any sound without configuring the Stereo Out.

It works this morning. I changed nothing from my OP.

@Alfo Kelp is using the Control Room. Thus, “Stereo Out” under the tab “Output” has to be set to not connected.

@kelp You have assigned both “VSX” and “Yamahas” to the same physical output - is that intentional?
Other than that, yeah, these things can happen. The old turning the computer off and on again game still remains a viable option :wink:

It is intentional. Allows me to use the control room source key command to switch between monitors and headphones, the latter of which uses the Slate VSX plugin. This is faster for me than mousing to disable the VSX control room insert when I want to use my monitors.

Just opened up Cubase again. Changed nothing (again). Doesn’t work again.

I found an old thread and someone posted that disabling and enabling Control Room solved their issue. Worth a try.

New information!

It seems to only not work on a track in a folder when phase coherent warping is active AND the track has adjusted warp markers.

It works outside of a folder and inside a folder (both with and without group editing) as long as phase coherent warping is inactive. It works outside of a folder and inside a folder (both with and without group editing) with phase coherent warping active as long as there’s no warping.

The above holds true for me for both folders and group folders.

I’m marking this as an issue. Can anyone duplicate?

  1. Put two tracks in a folder.
  2. Enable group editing and phase coherent warping.
  3. Try play tool. It should work.
  4. Warp one of the tracks (which warps both).
  5. Try play tool. It should not work when it’s expected to work.

I can confirm.

The play tool is only working on one selected track at a time. Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts before it’s working. If I select the other track it’s the same game all over again.
