Thanks for the data and here comes the verdict
You have HALion 7 installed but no license for it, therefore no VSTInstrument will get loaded and consequently no sound will come out.
I assume that you once had a HALion 7 trial license which ran out in the meantime. Correct?
Now, Dorico is set up to use the best available HALion derivate and that is HALion 7. The Dorico license contains also a license for HALion Sonic, the little brother of HALion, so you need to download and install HALion Sonic, which you can also do via the Steinberg Download Assistant. In the Dorico section select the second item that is listed there.
Now, you can leave HALion also installed, but if you don’t have a license for it, it doesn’t make much sense to keep it. On the other hand, there is no harm if you keep it either. The only thing you have to do then, is going to the Dorico Preferences dialog, select the Play tab and there change the values for Default HALion plug-in and Preferred HALion plug-in like following:
After that restart Dorico and reapply the playback template. Sound shall come out, done.
Case closed!
Thank you for answering. I followed your perescription s every word. Now I have both Halion sonic 7 AND Halion 7 with lisences for both***. Still no sound, but only a clicking noise for every note***. Also Dorico does not seem to recognize Halion sonic, as it does not pop up as an alternative in preferences. I can start both as standalones.. Has 48000/44.100 or 16/24 bps anything to do with this? A new Diagnostic Repor maybe?
Please create a new project from piano template, enter a few arbitrary notes and then create a new diagnostic report and send me. Thanks

I can hear drums when playing Wiese Iconica trailer
Thanks for the new data, @Tom_Harry_Halvorsen .
But what I can see is, that there is no HALion Sonic 7. The software only detects HALion 7 and Groove Agent SE.
So again, please open the Steinberg Download Assistant, go to the Dorico 5 section and install the second listed item. If the button says something like Install again, then please do that. Once done, please try out again with a new project from piano template.
