The instruments do not sound in playback mode

You are going to have to give us some more information if you want a sensible response.
Perhaps you could start by uploading your diagnostics (do help>Create Diagnostic Report and upload the zip file that appears on your desktop)
So, do you have VSTs listed under VST/MIDI tab? And, do you have any instruments assigned to your instrument(s) in the Track Inspector tab? And, is the default playback template set to Auto under Dorico->Preferences->Play->Playback Template?

Please create a new project from piano template , enter a few notes and then do from the menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and send the corresponding zip file to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
