Yesterday, everything was working fine. Today not so much.
This afternoon I pulled up an older project to use as a template for something new and got the usual pop up “This was created with an older form and will be updated” and then a new one about loading the VST sound library so that there would be audio so I said okay.
Then there was no playback. I went ahead and input the score I’m engraving without any audio feedback but now I’m at the point where I really need it to just work.
I tried:
Restarting Dorico then my computer
Running the Download Manager and updating everything
Checking that in settings it was showing one of the Halion libraries. I can never keep them straight but I think it should be using the good one that I paid for.
Then I tried launching my project from yesterday that had been working so that I could compare their settings, but then Dorico crashed.
I tried to relaunch and got an error message that the sound engine was taking longer than usual to load and I could wait or terminate. I chose to wait. It spun for another minute or two and said the same thing and terminated and generated a diagnostic.
Now it won’t launch at all.
I’m on Windows 10 that is up to date. Dorico is up to date. I feel like all I ever get to do is fight playback issues and it’s driving me crazy. I haven’t had playback on my work computer for months but haven’t had time to figure that out either.
Any help would be appreciated before I throw my laptop into a volcano.
