No stereo samples in Drum Machine?

Looks like you can’t drag stereo samples into the Drum Machine. You have to bounce them down to mono and drop L and R separate into the Drum Machine. Odd because you can do this on MPC and other platforms. Seems like an area Steinberg can upgrade. Unless there’s something I’m missing, can’t drag and drop stereo samples into DM.

What is “drum machine”? Do you mean a “Drum Track”?

No this thing. You can drop samples into it and play them as samples. But only if they’re mono.

You can use stereo samples. It is only the display in the Drum Machine that looks like mono but the sound is stereo. Cubase 15.0.30.

Right but you can’t drag and drop a stereo sample into the Drum Machine do you see what I’m saying? So maybe you can make a stereo sample with the drum machine engine or something. But it only accepts mono samples from the external. So maybe the machine is in stereo but it’s not accepting stereo samples is what I’m saying.

I can´t replicate this behaviour (I´m in Nuendo, MacOs, but this should be the same in Cubase). It would help if you share some details: Which OS, which version of Cubase?

  1. Dragging a stereo-sample from the arrangement to drum-machine:

  1. Dragging a stereo-sample from the media-browser:

  1. Dragging a stereo-sample from outside Nuendo:

I’m on CB 15.0.30 on win 11,
and can drop stereo samples from everywhere into the drum machine; no problem. I’ve read through the manual too, and can’t find any mentioning about file restrictions, both samples and layer presets is allowed, as far as I can see.

It looks exactly like this when I do it. Vid in the link.

Are you on Cubase 15? You tagged the topic but I just wanna make sure.
