Noch bist du da

Noch bist du da is a (for me) moving poem by Rose Ausländer about death but also a hymn to life. I decided to set it for alto with chamber strings, cor anglais and flute. It’s quite short so for anyone it might happen to appeal to, it should be possible to get through it anyway!

With all the discussion about AI voices of late, I’m wondering whether anyone is aware of an AI singer who can a) sing in German (as opposed to American like most of them) and b) can produce a musical rendering which is an improvement on Symphonic Choirs which at least in terms of diction is not really a high bar.

Very enjoyable, yet seemingly disconcerting at times – an effect I expect you wanted.

well I usually try to leave a few questions open! Anyway, glad you enjoyed it.

Ich komme

Mit Fragen?
I can’t find the complete poem anywhere - perhaps you know it!

Ja.

Mit fragen

Ich habe es dort gefunden (Seite 15), weil ich Franzose bin…
Aber mein Favorit ist Eine Stunde Vergessen.

sounds nice in French!
In fact Noch bist du da was the first Ausländer poem I ever read as it was suggested by my wife. But perhaps I should investigate more.

just an update on this – not only did I include this work in the mass conversion to SynthesizerV which certainly helps it considerably but also that a singing professor at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule (HMDK – the most important music school in SW Germany) likes the work so much that she wants to perform it herself. So we’ll see what comes of that!
