I need to input the following example in shape notes, but they aren’t Walker 4-shape:
This is the original, Sixteen Tune Settings by Andrew Law, 1812:
I’m trying to figure out the simplest way to set up these noteheads. I have a few ideas, but I’d like to do the simplest and easiest way I can. Thingking maybe I could modify the font itself instead of custom notehead sets, but I’m open to ideas. Thanks in advance.
BTW, here’s Walker 4-shape:
Sorry everybody, bumping this. I said I have a couple ideas, but none of them seem to be worth pursuing. Appreciate any suggestions.
Hi @dan_kreider, I don’t know if this could be helpful or if it is at all something similar of what you need, but based on your screenshots, I modified the Walker 4-shape notehead set, as an exercise for myself. (I managed to not have any override
).
You can of course tweak the stem positions further.
Here some screenshots and the Dorico file example (where you find the custom notehead set).
Dorico file example:
4 shape notehead set customised.dorico (1.4 MB)
Result:
and (in flow 2) your example:
Notehead set:

You are very welcome, @dan_kreider

Christian, I’m afraid I’m not getting it. I can open your file, but I can’t seem to transfer its custom notehead set to my file via the Library Manager.
Hi Dan. FWIW it worked fine for me. If I open up Dorico’s SATB unaccompanied Project Template and drop Christian’s file into the Library Manager I get this.

Hi @dan_kreider, strange. As @David_Tee shows, I am able too to import the notehead set into another project using the Library Manager .
Another way that works would be to open my Dorico example project, and click the star icon for that note headset, so you will find it in other projects too (then when you don’t need it anymore, click again on the star icon to remove the notehead set from the user library)
Got it, thanks. I just had to select all notes and change the noteheads via the context menu. PEBCAK.
