Recently, I bought a student copy of Dorico Elements (which was given to me as an Elements 2 box with a license) from a local music store, and I was able to upgrade it to Elements 3.5. However, I can not copy the soft eLicense to SAM because:
As I was given a boxed copy from the music store, I never received any specific code to “upgrade” to the new licensing system, which I cannot use to change the license to be used for Elements 4
I cannot purchase an upgrade on the Steinberg online store to get a code to update my license
My eLicense made it to being registered on MySteinberg, but I genuinely do not know how to upgrade it to version 4 or 5. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, and I am very worried that I’ll be stuck on 3.5 when May comes and shuts off the eLicenser server. Help!!!
(P.S. my eLicense is not a USB license, its a soft license for my computer)
Someone from the Steinberg team will be able to help, they can see your registration then give you information on how to proceed. Usually you would get a reply within a few days (it’s the weekend now). Please do not worry, the Steinberg team read all these posts
There is no code to update to a later release, unless you buy it.
Why can’t you do it, what is stoping you?
That doesn’t matter, the only important step is to make sure you are registered in your online profile at Steinberg.
What you need to do is, buy the update from Elements 3.5 to the latest Elements 5.1. You will receive a mail with a code that you enter in the Download Assistant, install the software and finally activate it in the Activation Manager.
I just realised from your post I was really, really blind when looking at the online shop…
Now knowing that, I’ll probably talk with the store soon and buy that upgrade. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
