Not possible to record audio files

all is working well, but when I want to record audio there is no audio signal on the audio track on cubase, the routing is good on cubase (input and output rooting), my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 works and recognize the audio signal, I can also hear it from the stereo out, but no signal in in the track, I totally don’t understand what’s happening here. I work with a new MacBook Pro M1 max and all is updated
Please help me

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Make sure Cubase has enabled Mic in the System Preferences, please.
Open macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Enable Cubase here.

Much thanks to you🙏

I just joined the forum with exactly the same problem, but use the audio interface in the Yamaha Montage. Your solution also works for me, thank you so much, I’ve been pulling my hair out…
As an aside, I now have any unwanted mic input coming though to my audio track, (I had previously disabled the mic input). Seems strange that the mic needs to be on ?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Sorry, In not sure I understand what do you mean.

Hi Martin, glad I joined :grinning:.
A while ago I noticed after recording a MIDI track to an audio track that there was still some audio signal coming through on the audio track. The signal was coming from the MacBook mic, so I disabled it and everything was fine. It was only recently after moving house that I had the problem of no audio coming through to the audio track, and using your solution of turning on the mic input solved the problem. Later on today I will test to see if the mic input is being recorded in Cubase whilst I’m recording from MIDI.

Hi,

If you select your built-in audio as the ASIO driver in Cubase, and you add an Audio track, which will have the Monitor enabled, then yes you will hear the audio coming from the the built-in mic.

But if you set your Yamaha/Steinberg USB ASIO driver, you will not receive the signal from the built-in mic to Cubase anymore.

Hi Martin,
I’m on a MacBook so won’t be using the ASIO drivers. I have the correct Steinberg driver installed and working having followed the instructions for the M1 processor. Will take another look later on today.
Thank you.
