Trying to show chord diagrams for a seven string guitar at the beginning of the flow. Doesn’t show anything although 7-string is selected in Chord Diagrams.
Can you attach the project that has the problem? Or a cut-down version of it, at least?
Thanks, Richard!
Project 2.dorico (1.1 MB)
The problem here is that you’ve already overridden the first page of the project (by adding a text frame with the string tunings). This prevents Dorico from creating an automatic frame for the chord diagrams. You need to go into Engrave mode, remove the page override from the first page, and then you can turn on the option to “Show chord diagrams”. If you want to add a text frame for your tunings, you can do it after you’ve added the chord diagrams.
Thank you very much! I’ll try.
Project 2.dorico (1.2 MB) Now I have duplicates. How can I get rid of them? Thanks!
I’m not quite sure how, but you’ve ended up with different fingerings for the same chord symbol - you can see this if you turn on “Show fingerings in chord diagrams at start of flow” in Layout Options. For example, you have these two fingerings for F#m:
To prevent this, you can either go through your chord symbols/diagrams and convert them all to use the same fingerings, or you can turn on the “Exclude from chords used at start of flow” property on an individual chord symbol if you don’t want it to show up at the start.
Project 2.dorico (1.2 MB)Got rid of fingerings, still some duplicates. like Bm, Bm/A
You’ve now got some examples with and some without fingerings:
Maybe the easiest thing to do is to select one of the chord diagrams and then do Copy Shape To Matching Chord Symbols.
That will ensure that all the chord symbols will be using the same chord diagram.
Thank you very much, Richard! You are the best!
