Notation 4 over 3

I have a poly-rhythm-drum (3 over 4) and I want to notate a trp line in both ways, one in 3 and one in 4, that the trumpet player can choose the best one for him. Is it possible, that the new staff is aligned with the others?

I would also need that, for example, one instrument in 5/4 and another in 7/8 at the same time. I’m not sure, but as far as I know, it’s not possible. Maybe someone can explain why this is not yet possible in Dorico? I would also be interested in that.

@Klangschmied ,

Is this what you are looking for? A local time signature (confirmed with ALT/OPT + ENTER)?

From his illustration, what I suspect @Klangschmied wants is a staff in 4/4 with aligned barlines (and, therefore, 4/3 relative tempo).

If I’m correct in my understanding, Klangschmied, it’s important to realize the Dorico is structured around absolute rhythmic position from the beginning of a flow; barlines are simply “handy reference marks” shown once a time signature is input.

I’ll leave it to others with greater powers and “chops” than I to offer any workarounds that could create the appearance Klangschmied wants.

@judddanby you are right, I want the notation from the 2nd Trp in 4/4, aligned in 3/4, so that it looks like (but with drum notation as in the 1st example).

@Derrek , thanks my intention is different, see my answer below.

So you want…

@Derrek yes,
great and thank you very much. How do you enter the green 4:3?
And is this working in Ossia as well?

He used a hidden 4:3 quarter note tuplet there.

Oh @Maarten_Kruijswijk , good point, I have to rethink.

(Apologies for asking something entirely aside from the OP: @Derrek, how do you enter those great key caps inside rectangles? What a fantastic way to make our posts’ instructions super clear!)
