u (to cut the tie), o (to force duration), 7 (to convert to a minim)
FIRST:
Check Notation Options > Note Grouping, to check that the values there are what you want for this particular flow.
THEN:
If this needs to be different, use Force Duration. Select the Notes, press O, then 6 7.
(6 will turn it into a crotchet, then 7 will turn it into a minim again.) Make sure Insert mode is OFF.
