Is there a way to maintain the same note head type from the instrument that the cues are for? I have “x” note heads in my unpitched percussion part. When I put the cues in other parts, it only maintained the "x " note heads in one of those parts. I can’t figure out why. Please help!
Which part did it remain in?
I was able to see the “x” note heads in my alto sax part. I am trying to use the first bar(s) as a notated count-off.
And which part did the cues remain in?
It would be helpful if you could attach a project that demonstrates this. I, for one, find it easier to try and solve problems this way.
I’m not sure what I did initially for the “x” note heads to appear in my sax part. I somehow reverted it back to normal notes in the process of trying to figure it out. However, I found a solution to my problem. In my drum kit, I have an instrument setup specifically for the count offs (stick clicks) that will be played by my drummer. I changed the note heads of that instrument to “x.” I then use cues for that instrument in all the parts, and in the full score, all the cues appear with “x” note heads. Unfortunately, in the parts the cues reverted back to small normal note heads. My solution to get “x” note heads in the parts was to select the notes that I want to show as count off notes, and change the note heads again to “x” note heads. Nothing changes in the drum part since the notes are already “x”, but all the cues will now show as “x” note heads in the parts.
Sorry for the trouble, but hopefully it helps someone else. If anyone has better ideas to notate count-offs, please share!
