Note Input: or How do I stop this from happening?

Now I am new to Dorico note input. I think it is doing this because of the smart rhythm thing that Dorico uses see below:

Now I know what rhythm I want and I know I want just a dotted crotchet, I don’t need dorico trying to ‘help’ me!
How can I just turn this off so if I input a crotchet and dot it it gives me that? I am reading Dan Kreiders guide so I get there might be better ways to do this but that will take time as this is day 2

cheers Peter

I think you can turn this off somewhere in Notation options, or if you have SE you can enable “force duration” in the panel on the left.

Hopefully this helps.

This can be defined globally in Notation Options > Note Grouping > Syncopation

To get the dotted crotchet you have to make also this setting

In my experience the global choice in Syncopation does not work on its own. In Dorico Pro, I continue to have to engage Force Duration when inputting notation to get this to function. Am I missing something?

Please see my edit.

Thanks for the replies I’ll test these options out shortly :+1:

This seems to have worked, TYVM! :+1:
