Sorry to be dumb…I recently upgraded from Windows XP and Cubase 5 to Windows 11 and Cubase 14 Pro. A big jump! The new setup is excellent (especially as my computer guru Robert has my Yamaha 01/X working with Windows 11. Here’s my question: In Cubase 5, if I clicked on a place in an open part in the key editor, the note length equalled the size of the smallest square. In Cubase 14, the same action produces a tiny note of extremely short length. I have scoured the manual (1500 pages…I have actually printed it. I love manuals!) and can’t find out how to change the default note length. Can anyone tell me how I do this? Thanks, JW
You can use the draw tool. Hold click and pull to the desired length.
You can change the note length used when double-clicking on the grid, for example, with the Length Quantize setting in the toolbar of the key editor:
If it’s not present in your toolbar, just right-click on the toolbar and enable the item in the shown popup window:
Sorted!! Thanks. I should have known…I spend half my life going on about the wonders of contextual menus. Thanks again!
Sorry to be dumb again, my notes have all gone small and “length quantise” has disappeared from the setup menu. In fact, my setup menu has very little in common with the one in the above reply! Where has it gone?? Thanks
Is it still Cubase Pro that is getting launched? Or maybe Cubase Elements, AI, or LE? Have a look at the About screen, please.
It’s Pro. I have found it thanks! It is in the Setup pop up of the key editor if you open the editor separately. Thanks.
