Note selection in midi editor - select only one pitch problem

Hello,
When I try to select a SINGLE note in midi editor - cubase 14 selects all pitches at the same point in time, which makes it impossible to edit velocities independently on each note.

Is it a bug or a setting I might have enabled unknowingly?

Restarting cubase does not help. And it happens in every new midi track I create…

Hi,

I can see only the 1st C2 MIDI Note selected. So, where is the problem?

How do you select the MIDI Note?

  • Do you use the Object Selection Tool and click on the Note? This selects the single Note.
  • Or do you Ctrl/Cmd + click on the virtual keyboard on the left side? This selects all the Notes of the given Pitch.
  • Or do you Shift + double-click on the given Note? This selects all the Notes of the given Pitch.

@Martin.Jirsak Thank You for Your answer.
I’m selecting only one note using the selection tool - but when I do all of the notes at the same point in time get selected without me doing anything more. THe problem is I cannot move or modify a velocity of a single note - they all behave as if they were grouped and locked together.

Hi,

So in your case C1 became selected automaticalle with C2 selection?

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?

@Martin.Jirsak Thank You for Your reply! When I launched Cubase in safe mode and disabled preferences the problem dissapeared!

What does that tell us? That I must have switched on some preference that does this?

Anyway I used the same Safe Start Mode to Delete my preferences altogether and now I’m back to normal MIDI editing - thanks for Your help!

Hi,

The defaults.xml file was somehow corrupted. But you got a fresh one this way.
